The Other Ones Foundation provides extremely low barrier employment to people experiencing homelessness, paired with personalized case management that helps our friends navigate services and acquire the resources necessary to find stable housing and income. During this time of COVID-19, TOOF is asking for assistance in food donations or pre-made food bags which they hand out weekly to those most vulnerable in Central Austin.

TOOF has recently started providing hygiene services with the Moblie Hygiene Clinic. This provides a showers and restrooms to folks who are in dire need due to the recent shut down of many service locations and organization who are not coming into Central Austin to offer regular assistance. This is a challenging time for those marginalized communities as there is a shortage of services and food throughout the area. TOOF is looking to hand out a bags of food containing enough calories to sustain a person for one week.

These bags should contain calorie dense, non-perishable, single serving food items that do not require any kitchen preparation. These bags should not contain perishable, homemade food items, or liquids like bottled water. Water will be provided by the foundation. Food items should also not require cooking or refrigeration. Suggested items include peanut butter, jelly, nuts, tuna and chicken packets, spam, canned soups, single serve fruit or veggie cups, beef jerky, tortillas, granola bars, etc.

Austin Humanists at Work is collecting in North Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville and outlying communities who can’t easily access drop off. Please email info@austinhumanistsatwork.org where you can drop off or how to gain pick up. Please share this information with your networks and begin the effort of preparing food bags to go out to the foundation’s Mobile Hygiene Clinic.
