“The Austin City Council has made good strides in decriminalizing homelessness and we ask that they don’t backtrack in the face fear and lies. We can’t police our way out of homelessness. We need to save our precious resources on housing people. I urge you not to vote in favor of any new restrictions on camping, sitting or lying down and to focus on making camping safer and more sanitary and housing people.
The city council meeting where they will hear testimony about making camping, sitting and lying down illegal again starts at 1pm next Wednesday, 9/18 at City Hall. Here are the two proposals up for discussion put forward by Kitchen/Tovo and Casar/Adler:http://austincouncilforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1172

Below is an organization letter we are asking organizations to sign-on, to let city council know that they support the passed ordinance in July 2019.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VCVqUO4F2tZg9JQosbmoMcrjZ9YhwD5reQupdmrU2zI/edit

Additionally, there is also a Change.Org petition to collect signatures to oppose any changes to the current homelessness ordinance. Please share. http://chng.it/MjxqZ2gDB6.
