We’ve been very busy doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work in early August preparing for the monthly giveaway, but also two other big initiatives: our largest corporate volunteer event ever, and tackling the reorganization and relocation of our storage facility where bulk supplies are kept between giveaways.
Late last month we came forward to ask for monetary donations so that we could buy kit-making supplies for a large corporate volunteer event, in which staff would donate time to prepackage the kits we distribute at giveaways. And our donors really answered the call in a big way! In just a few weeks, 39 ATXHAW donors raised more than $1,063–exceeding our goal—to purchase supplies for feminine hygiene kits, first aid kits and packets of wet wipes. With this stash, we will be able to offer these kits at giveaways for the next 2-3 years. This is a huge opportunity and we are incredibly grateful for support from you all as well as our corporate partner. Stay tuned for more details and photos from the kit-making event.
As we work on these projects, we are also preparing for our next monthly giveaway on Sunday, August 18 starting at 8:40 a.m.
In July we were lacking in convenient, prepackaged foods such as bananas, granola bars, and high-protein snacks, which are hugely popular with clients. So we are adding those to our list this month, as well as these items which we are completely out of.
