We had a great giveaway this June, which happened to coincide with Father’s Day. We want to take just a moment to thank the dads who volunteer their time and make donations to Austin Humanists at Work. Everyone including the many dads in the giveaway line is very appreciative!
We had an easygoing start to the morning and opened just after 9 a.m. with an abundance of tables that helped us spread out our items. We’ve been getting bra donations through our drive, which lasts through the end of July, so please keep those donations of new and gently used bras coming. Many of our clients were very glad to be able to pick out new bras this month. We are thankful that the Ethical Society of Austin provided coolers and ice for our donated cans of water, helping us distribute many more cans this month than in previous months.
As we enter the summer months when participation and donations tend to dip, remember to check our needs page for the latest inventory updates and item requests.
We served a total of 209 clients this month at the giveaway, with about 30 volunteers smiling and sweating (just a little).
