It was a bit damp, but the rain went away and left us with a nice, brisk sunny morning. Approximately 33 volunteers served 183 individuals a wide selection of our staple personal care items, Warmth Drive donations and so much more. As it was the 4th Sunday, we saw many different groups we don’t normally get to work around. It was such a great vibe in Central Austin. We received an unexpected donation of 350+ rolls of toilet paper and were able to hand out whole 36 packs of toilet paper to housed individuals in need. We usually have to tell everyone to only take one, please, so it was wonderful to be able to offer more! As always, thank you Carolyn Patrick for bringing such a wonderful donation from Treasure of the Hills Senior Activity Center in Cedar Park.

This giveaway brought us some new friends and volunteers. It was nice to have Bernadette who is an educator and outreach volunteer at Austin Creative Reuse. She brought some notebooks and pens which our clients loved very much. It also was very nice to meet members from Rolling Hills Community Church of Lago Vista and trade giveaway supplies with them! Austin Humanists was happy to donate some of our overstock to another group this Sunday. Joseph’s Pantry from Granite Shoals, who serves many Texas communities. Some of these communities were hit by the floods in 2018 in the Highland Lakes area, Harvey ravaged communities, and even communities that relocated to Texas after Katrina. Again, it was really nice meeting everyone this Sunday and share a day of giving, love, and compassion.

Our next giveaway will be the 4th Sunday again in February due to the Austin Marathon. Hope to see everyone February 24th. Check out our Giveaway page for more information about our giveaways and how you can help. We will also be announcing a few things soon along with our February drive. We’re bringing “Just Because Bags” back to spread the love even more. Be well fellow humans and see you in February.
