It’s May, and we Texans know – summer has begun! We’re already seeing highs in the 90s, and it’s only going to get hotter! To help our clients stay cool, we’ve added instant cold packs to our Amazon wish list. We’ve also added sunscreen. This not only helps prevent painful sunburns, it also protects our clients from skin cancer due to UV radiation.
While you’re checking out the new seasonal items, please consider purchasing nail clippers, tissues, pens, body wipes, lip balm, or deodorant. We are completely out of all of these items! If you have items that you’d like to donate, please drop them off at our donation bin at Pak Mail Metric. Their address is: 11900 Metric Blvd. #J, Austin, TX 78758. They are open Monday – Friday from 9:30 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Can’t get to Pak Mail? That’s OK – email our donations coordinator to schedule a pick up: donations@austinhumanistsatwork.org. We have volunteers all over the Austin area that can pick up your donation!
Time for Gettin’ Knotty!
Looking for something to do while you’re waiting to defeat the dark side? (Or the Jedi – we won’t judge!) How about knitting or crocheting? ATXHAW’s Gettin’ Knotty group creates hats, scarves, and cotton washcloths that are handed out to our clients at each giveaway.
The group will be meeting this Thursday, May 17, in the cafe area of the Barnes & Noble in the Arboretum. Come by between 7 PM & 10 PM to try a new craft and make new friends!
(Force choking is prohibited at Gettin’ Knotty events. We also ask that your lightsabers remain holstered.)
