There’s just a few weeks left to donate to the ATXHAW 2017-2018 Warmth Drive! Check your closets for any of the following: hats, scarves, gloves, thermal shirts/underwear, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hoodies, jackets, heavy coats, windbreakers, ponchos, sleeping bags/mats, tents, and blankets. We happily accept new and clean gently-used items.
Volunteer Opportunities!
Austin ECHO is looking for volunteers for their 2018 Point In Time Count on Saturday, January 27, 2018. The Point In Time Count is an annual census of people experiencing homelessness in the Austin area. Each year, over 600 volunteers survey areas of Austin/Travis County in order to better understand homelessness. Could you be one of those people? Visit the Austin ECHO website to sign up and learn more.
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church needs volunteers to help on nights when the Cold Weather Shelter system is activated. The Cold Weather Shelter system is a network of churches and community volunteers that provide extra shelter space on nights where the temperature falls below freezing. Dinner volunteers are needed from 6 PM to 9 PM, and overnight volunteers are needed from 9 PM to 7 AM. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Ed Kopas at edwardkopas@yahoo.com or 512-659-9880.
