Hi everyone! As you read in our August giveaway wrap-up, we were able to serve 169 people last month! That is AWESOME, but it really put a dent in our supplies. We are completely out of a lot of things, including hand sanitizer, men’s underwear, men’s socks, toilet paper, insect repellent, sunscreen, and more. To see the complete list of what we do & don’t need, please click here.
Hey, do you know about Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program?
It’s pretty cool! You can sign up to have your donation automatically sent to us on a monthly basis. Subscribe & Save will save you 5% if you sign up for 1-4 items; if you sign up for 5 or more items, it’ll save you 15% every month! Not all items are eligible, but many of our frequent green light list items are, such as: toilet paper, sunscreen, razors, toothbrushes, deodorant, hand sanitizer, and first aid kits.
(Thanks to R.K. for the tip!)
If you’re in the Austin area & have some things around your house that you’d like to donate, please email donations@austinhumanistsatwork.org, and our donations coordinator will put you in touch with the nearest volunteer. We have volunteers all over the Austin metro area that will be happy to pick up what you have to give.
You can also bring your donation to the next giveaway – don’t be shy, come say hi! We’d love to meet you & show you the ropes.
Have you been wanting to learn to knit or crochet? Come to the next Gettin’ Knotty meeting on September 15th! We meet in the cafe area of the Barnes & Noble in the Arboretum from 7-10 PM. Cotton washcloths are great for practice! PS – Coat & tie is not required for cats at GK meetings.
It may not seem like it, but cold weather will be upon us in a few short months! You know what that means… hats & scarves! Pick up your hooks & needles and get crafting!
We hope you’re having a great Labor Day weekend! See you on the 18th!
