It was a fabulous morning for a giveaway. Not a rain cloud in site, just the typical hot & muggy Texas morning anyone who has lived here for any amount of time is accustomed to. There was a great turn out of 32 volunteers and a wonderful supply of personal care items, clothing, back packs, books, crochet washcloths and a nice assortment of grab and go food. Today we bumped elbows with one man and served 168 others through our giveaway line.
Austin Humanists at Work appreciates the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers who have built this organization from just 2 people in 2013 to over 50 volunteers and countless donors within Austin, surrounding areas, and even beyond Texas. Our organization has grown leaps and bounds and we are proud to be a group who helps fellow humans with truly “no strings attached”.
*A sentiment from the author*
It is hard to put into words the sheer gratitude you who come through our line express each giveaway. So many different people, who have come from all walks of life and from many regions of the U.S., even the globe, all in one place feels like home to the author of this wrap up.
You are very welcome and I’ll see some of you next month. I wish you safety, and peace this evening.
See everyone next giveaway, Sunday, October 16th.
