ATXAHH is proud to participate in this year’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, hosted by the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO).  If you’d like to know more about what our community is doing to end homelessness, be sure to check out some of the events that are lined up for the week of November 16th, including our giveaway! Click the images below to enlarge the schedule and descriptions.

We’re well aware that supporting our efforts is your choice and we greatly appreciate that!  At the end of October, we said we were in desperate need of toothpaste and dental floss for the November 16th giveaway. Once again, you guys came through!  We have enough to cover this month’s giveaway. Now we’d like to focus on collecting the following toiletries: travel size deodorant, lip balm and mini first aid kits.

If you can’t find mini first aid kits in stores, they’re pretty easy to make if you have the time (Of course, you do!  You can put them together while watching television!).  Most of them are simple: a handful of assorted bandaid sizes, some gauze squares and a few antiseptic wipes. An online search for “homemade mini first aid kit” will give you ideas about how to make them using a variety of container materials from metal mint containers to small plastic bags.  The key is consistency.  To be as fair as possible to the people in our giveaway line, it’s important for each kit to have the same number and quality of items. If putting together first aid kits is not your idea of fun but you’d still like to help, check out our list of commonly accepted donations. At this time, we do NOT need shampoo, conditioner, razors, soap bars, lotion, or nail clippers.

We’ll be sure to post another announcement to remind you of our next giveaway. In the meantime, mosey on over to our FaceBook page and hit that Like button. Not only will you get more ATXAHH goodness several times a week, we’ll be doing a t-shirt giveaway later this month, exclusively through our FaceBook feed.

Without awareness, nothing can change.
