Dr. Innes Mitchell of St. Edward’s University invited some of our volunteers to talk with the students in his Perspectives in Atheism course earlier this month. We had a great time explaining the Whats, Hows and Whys of ATXAHH. They surprised us with a donation at the end of our time together…thanks!
Did you know, according to the Coalition for the Homeless, the average age of a person who is homeless in the United States is NINE years old? If you have kids who currently volunteer with ATXAHH (or you’re thinking about joining us with your kids), we have a very special opportunity coming up. The Executive Director at Caritas of Austin invited us for a personal tour along with an activity and discussion to help our kids better relate to what it’s like to be homeless. This will be an excellent opportunity to develop some empathy for those we help each month. We’re looking at a date in early June. If you’re interested in going, please contact us ASAP so we can finalize details.
